For many years now, there hasn’t been much to make my mother dream. Then, while clearing out my grandparents’ house in Brittany, I came across an old spiral-bound notebook. It was my grandfather’s logbook from a scientific expedition to Antarctica. I had one overriding desire: to take my mother to that inaccessible faraway place.
