The Forgers of History tells the story of the Holocaust denying discourse in France and recounts its worldwide spread in recent decades.
Built on the expertise of the best historians and public figures, and on little known — and often unseen — archival footage, this film tells the story of an intellectual and anti-Semitic fraud, which started in the early post-war years among nostalgics of Nazism and collaboration. In the 1970s and until the end of the 1990s, influenced by an “anti-Zionist” far left, Holocaust denial was redirected towards the Arab and Muslim world.
The documentary unpacks Holocaust denial in order to better understand, ward off and expose this hate speech hiding behind the masks of historicity and political activism. As the Holocaust’s last survivors are disappearing, it is also a warning about the “forgers of history’s” continuing onslaughts on several continents.
