When he invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Vladimir Putin put an end to eight years of negotiations on the Donbas conflict — a long-ignored war before the war.

Through archival footage and interviews with high-ranking officials who participated in the negotiations, this film shows what was then already at stake: Europe’s weaknesses towards Russia, and the return of cold-war dynamics.

This documentary mingles geopolitical and intimate narratives to bring new light to the origins of this war at Europe’s gates.
